It's interesting to see that the neocon approach is to turn everything into an issue of national security. How else can they justify a further expansion of the welfare/warfare state? They are no different than the left-wing socialists they claim to despise.

My post 11 sounds similar to yours now that I see the thread but the message needed to be repeated anyway. The neocons want to expand government - they are not conservatives.

The purpose of that is to get stupid conservatives on board. They'll sign up for anything if you wrap the flag in it and shout "the enemy is at the gate." If the left was smart they'd sell gay marriage as a national security issue.
