I just saw the movie tonight at a special screening at the Spectrum in Irvine, Ca. It was riveting; as dramatic a motion picture as I have ever seen. The large audience was spellbound, and at the end of the movie nobody left their seat until nearly all the credits had passed. Even after the lights had come up, nobody dared to even speak, as though we were in the presence of royalty and were not allowed. The theatre employees stood silently against one side of the room, also not speaking as the attendees filed past in silent procession. Mel Gibson has brought the crucifixion of Jesus into our time, to be viewed by all, to be felt by all. At times I felt like crying but held in my emotion, all the while having a growing sense of the love of God that was demonstrated in his Son. It was unlike any picture I have ever seen, and I wonder if I should dare see it again, as though to see it again might be some kind of a sin.
