A spokeswoman for presidential contender John Kerry called Paige's remarks "inappropriate, particularly at a time when our nation has experienced the devastation caused by terrorism." Kerry's chief competitor, John Edwards, called Paige's words "grossly offensive."Not so fast, John Effin Kerry.
From Drudge's page:
As Democrats express outrage over comments made by Education Secretary Rod Paige [he called the the nation's largest teachers union 'a terrorist organization'] a DRUDGE REPORT flashback can reveal Democrat presidential frontrunner John Kerry Has Called Republicans 'legislative terrorists'... MORE... In Jan. 1996, commenting on the federal government shutdown, Kerry called the House Republicans 'legislative terrorists,' who used federal workers as pawns and disrespected them. Asked about his terrorist comment, Kerry explained, 'Terrorists hold hostages, and the Republicans are holding the government hostage'...

This Paige guy is pretty cool!!!!!!!
On this subject, has anyone ever stopped to consider just how much the NEA thinks it should cost to each one child the alphabet? If you add up Head Start and kindergarten, we are talking about $20,000 to $30,000 per child to learn the ABCs -- about $1,000 per letter. Why not just mail a $10 video to the home of every three year old?

[Michigan Education Association President Lu Battaglieri] "Secretary Paige is acting like a schoolyard bully..." On the contrary. The bullys are the teacher's unions that use the force of government to tax people's money away from them and then deny them right to place their children into the schools of their choice.

At first I thought Paige's comment was over the top, but the more I think about it, the more valid it seems. The NEA threatens to harm our children unless we give them money, then they go ahead and harm them anyway. How is that anything short of terrorism?

Kerry explained, 'Terrorists hold hostages, and the Republicans are holding the government hostage'... So what we're saying is "Terrorists hold hostages, and the NEA is holding our children hostage..."
