I have personally talked to 4 freepers and several (at least 5) people in my community who have children or family members (sisters, brothers) who left their marriage to marry gay people.
I don't think you have a point on that one.
My grandmother left my grandfather years ago to live with her "friend."

Sure there are cases, but many are people who either didn't have children or had long ago divorced their spouse.
