Yeah...still it is a faultline. What would a 2 megaton grapefruit do to it? Or three of them?

From the Poughkeepsie Journal
"NEWBURGH -- Police are investigating the death of a man found in the Hudson River wearing scuba gear. The body was spotted floating Sunday by the crew of a cargo ship that had delivered coal to Dynergy's Danskammer power plant, Town of Newburgh police said. Newburgh town police were trying to establish the man's identity. The man is 5 feet 6 inches tall, 160 pounds, with dark brown shoulder-length hair, a mustache and goatee. He was wearing two goldtone small hoop earrings in both ears and has a tattoo on the left side of his chest. The tattoo depicts a cross with the initials CMM, and a second tattoo on the man's left shoulder shows an angel with yellow hair. Anyone with information is asked to call town detectives at 845-564-1100."

A tatoo with a cross tells me it's probably not jihad-related.

OMG I thought that I would step away from the Threat Matrix for a little bit and read my local Delaware paper. After reading this article, and with the recent "diver" info. I find myself to be almost physically ill. This is very close to home for me. The last sentence about reporting suspicious packages ordinances etc. seems to me to be the "real" story here. If they were only looking for grenades "accidently" washing up on the beach why mention "packages".
The weather in this area is going to be very mild this week-end, I planned a nice week-end at the beach, with my two children. My husband is in Myrtle Beach for a business/golf week-end with business partners and my father and brothers. He expressed his thoughts that he didn't really want to go...yesterday morning as he was leaving.
32 Live Grenades Found in Clamshells
By MICHELE BESSO and MIKE BILLINGTON
02/26/2004
Authorities have destroyed 32 grenades that a Bridgeville man discovered mixed in with loads of clamshells he was spreading on his property.
The man, whose name was not released, delivered the grenades to Troop 5 in Bridgeville on Tuesday, state police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Oldham said. The grenades, which were mostly World War II vintage, were in the shells purchased from a Maryland business and delivered to the man in November, Oldham said. He did not have the name or location of the business. The man apparently found a grenade or two every time he spread the shells and kept adding to the collection until he finished the job.
"These were live grenades that could have gone off," Oldham said. "The man put them in a pot and left them there." The grenades were both "pineapple" hand grenades and rifle grenades.
Members of the state police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team verified the grenades were military ordnance, Oldham said. Dover Air Force Base was notified and a unit from the base took the grenades. The ordnance was then transported to Dover Air Force Base, where they were destroyed, Oldham said.
"Apparently, the grenades are from off the coast in the Atlantic Ocean," he said. "The military used to use the ocean for testing, and somehow the grenades were disposed of there. These clamshells were dug up, processed, and the hand grenades got mixed in." Oldham said it is not unusual for ordnance to turn up in coastal areas.
State police said anyone who finds ordnance, explosives or a suspicious package should leave it alone and call 911 immediately. Do not handle or transport the item, police said.

I'm actually in Pocatello, Idaho. No longer in southern California. When I was in San Diego, the LDS (Mormon) church had a program to help people earn a ham license. Lots of people were successful in earning licenses under those programs. There is an LDS church emergency services network that is pressed into service in cases of a disaster. The local churches practice twice each year to contact all the local members and report back using door to door contacts, messengers on bicycles and ham radio. Test messages a placed with selected members to ensure the practice drill was successful. Typically, the entire exercise takes about 2 hours.
I mention this to assure you that you will have community members around you that have working ham radios and connectivity. I realize the context of the conversion was related to keeping FR members in communication. In a broader sense, you can expect to have access to communications between communities if a disaster strikes.

Are you talking about the frogman picture?Yes.

Doesn't look like your typical Jihadist. Hell's Angel, maybe; Jihadist, no way.

Isn't this eerie after you have been discussing your thoughts on a diver for months!

Not necessarily...I think he was hired.

It is eerie. But if I'm not mistaken, I think it is jerseygirl who posted a lot on the frogman thing.
To: all4one
Mind boggling that the fellow didn't call the authorities after finding the first one but waited until he used all the clam shells!
To: all4one
What a strange story.

Not necessarily...I think he was hired. You know, you're right. He could be. Given they've infiltrated our military and prisons he could very well be hired.

Is there a way that a freeper connection could be made across the US by you and our other ham radio operators in case of emergency? I know our ham club here has the ability to operate by generator. Do we need a frequency number for all to turn to for communication? I know nothing about ham radios as you can tell, but do have a group that we use here for emergency purposes.
Mainly here in California we prepare for earthquakes, but in the event of a major attack this could be an invaluable asset to our network if we could get enough people involved and then those folks would be in contact with others in their close area. I've seen there are other freepers in your area as well as Indie's.

" Hell's Angel, maybe"
Now that would be a new twist! Do they have specific body markings?
