Regarding the picture of the bloody child...these people are so primitive. Can you even imagine the indignity if that were to have happened for a religious ceremony in this country?

No prayer in schools and other areas, no christmas decorations, symbols, etc.

I wonder how long it will be before it will be against the law for us to put up religious symbols in our windows or on our own lawns (nativity scenes)? Someone surely will begin litigating because it is offensive for them to view. Some homeowner associations are banning them already. You are not alone about this Granny!

Jury indicts father accused of using scissors to circumcise daughter

By LATEEF MUNGIN
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 03/02/04

A father accused of performing female genital mutilation on his then two-year-old daughter was indicted by a Gwinnett grand jury.

Khalid Adem, 28, was indicted Friday and charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children. Adem, arrested in March of 2003, is accused of using scissors to circumcise his daughter.

The toddler's mother alerted police of the alleged incident, which police say took place in 2001.

Adem's attorney, W. Mark Hill, contends that someone else could have performed the circumcision, including the child's mother or grandmother, who have roots in a South African tribe that has practiced female circumcision.

"He did not do it," said Hill. "We have asked the maternal grandmother and the mother to take a lie detector test, but they will not do it."

Since the arrest, the couple has divorced and Adem does not have visitation rights, Hill said. Adem was born in Ethiopia and immigrated to the U.S. more than 10 years ago, Hill said.

Gwinnett police Sgt. Jay Fetner said during a preliminary court hearing that the word of the child is the only evidence police have connecting Adem to the circumcision. The child told a doctor that Adem had performed the procedure in his Duluth apartment while Adem's friend held her legs, Fetner said.

The traditional African practice of female circumcision has been denounced for decades by health and human rights activists. In some areas in Africa, the act can involve a coming-of-age ritual celebrated with feasting, drumming, dancing and gifts.

Opponents claim the act, which typically involves the removal of the clitoris, is extremely painful and unsafe.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that more than 160,000 girls and women in immigrant communities in the United States may have undergone circumcision.

But living in the great sales tax free state of Delaware...

Oregon is also tax free, but they found a new way to make money - marriage licenses in Portland have increased dramatically in the past day or two.

Thanks JustPiper.

This reminded me of the exact same type of phone phone I had while in Kuwait last spring. The only thing required to obtain this communications capability is a minimal amount cash. There is no verification of identity or intended use. Following my arrival in Kuwait and exchanging US Dollars for Kuwaiti Dinar I purchased enough on-air cell time to last for a full year. Upon my departure I simply gave my phone to the person taking my spot in the command and told him how he could purchase additional time on the SIM.

Such a system is the terrorist's dream come true because these kinds of cell phones are ideal for clandestine communications and as bomb detonation devices.

It said al-Zarqawi was unable to escape the bombing because of his artificial leg.

Aw shucks!!! Too bad for him! Hope it's true!

Hmmmm...does that mean they are about to make money soon on same-sex marriages?

It's the corporate money that keeps Delaware sales tax free...at least so far.

That's exactly what they are making more money on already. Marriage licenses up from average of 60 to something like 260.

The picture of the child should also serve as a reminder that the Islamists are raised in a blood-thirstly environment. They raise their innocent children with thoughts of killing all infidels who don't follow the Koran.

Good post texKat.

This mirrors the information I have been seeing for some time on Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi. The communication he was attempting to pass from his location in Iraq to senior al-Qaeda leadership in Iran was intercepted by our Kurdish allies in Northern Iraq with the capture of the al-Qaeda mule Hasan Ghul.

Terrorists May Use Pen Guns, FBI Warns

Thursday, March 04, 2004

WASHINGTON — The FBI is warning that terrorists could potentially use pens filled with cartridges of poison as weapons, according to an FBI bulletin obtained by Fox News.

A pen gun (search) is a small-caliber, single shot weapon that resembles a fountain pen.

In its weekly bulletin to law enforcement agencies throughout the country, the FBI said that bullet cavities of pen guns could be filled with poisonous chemicals or biological toxins, including cyanide (search), mercury (search), arsenic (search) and ricin (search).

Click Here for Foxnews.com's War on Terror Handbook

"The FBI possesses no information indicating that chemical pen guns are currently being used or will be used in terrorist operations in the United States; however, law enforcement agencies should remain alert to the potential use of such devices," the FBI said in the notice.

The FBI noted, by way of background, that Indian authorities in December 2003 seized a pen gun during a raid on a suspected Islamic separatist's home in Kashmir, India. Police also found 25 suspected chemical cartridges (search). An officer became lightheaded after breaking open a cartridge. However, the chemical agent, if any, has not been identified.

"Pen guns are not new weapons; however, if the cartridges found in the Indian seizure were contaminated, that would indicate a new method of operation," the FBI said.

Since early 2001, several incidents involving pen guns have been reported overseas, according to the FBI. To describe a few:

— On June 18, 2003, Saudi Arabian border guards seized 10 pen guns from Yemini nationals.

— In January 2003, French police searching locations used by an arrested French Algerian baggage handler found a number of pen guns.

The bureau points out that pen guns can be easily concealed to evade detection at security checkpoints.

"Except for its heavier weight, which is evident only when held, a pen gun closely resembles a standard fountain pen. There are no outward markings to indicate the pen is a firearm," the FBI said.

"Furthermore, one type of pen gun has a tiny ink reservoir within the tip, so it will write if the operative is challenged. In a standard X-ray device, an unloaded pen gun may appear as a normal pen."

The FBI said a watch placed on top of a pen gun could obstruct the weapon when going through an X-ray. "Therefore, pens should be separated from other items in screening bins to ensure a clear X-ray image," the agency stated.

Pen guns are readily available in the United States and have recently become available in Europe, the Balkans, Middle East and South Asia, the FBI said.

Fox News' Anna Stolley contributed to this report.

Scientist Released After Ebola-Suspected Isolation

POSTED: 9:00 am EST March 4, 2004

FREDERICK, Md. -- A Fort Detrick scientist who might have been exposed to a weakened strain of the Ebola virus last month has been released from quarantine after showing no signs of infection for 21 days.

The scientist, a National Research Council postdoctoral candidate since 2002, was released Wednesday from the U.S. Army Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), where she had a computer, television and VCR to help her pass the time.

If she had been infected, she would have shown symptoms within 21 days, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and experts at USAMRIID.

Presently the terrorist is trying very hard to hit and destroy a telephone exchange building in Iraq. Brings to mind Daleel's, EOM's, or whom ever's threat about our troops (communication)being cut off. I hope that our guys have their own communications backup system.

In the meantime per Fox News the Sunnis in the northern triangle (even Ramadi) Iraq are calling for an end to terrorist attacks (foolery). Just who do they think they are kidding. They already tried that before in Fallujah a few weeks ago.

Senator Pat Roberts was on Fox News Live a litlle while ago and when asked by David Asner if the US knew that Mohammed al-Zawahri, the brother of al-Qaeda's No.2 man, Ayman al-Zawahri had been in an Egyptian prison since 1999, Senator Roberts stated that he could not answer that.
