Press Conference Celebrates the American Soldier: "America is the World’s Most Generous Nation in the Cause of Freedom"

For Immediate Release February 23, 2004 (Washington, DC) Frontiers of Freedom Chairman Senator Malcolm Wallop will appear tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24th at a Capitol Hill press conference celebrating the Veterans History Project, a joint venture between the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL), the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Disabled American Veterans, and the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress.

“America is the world’s most generous nation in the cause of freedom,” states Chairman Wallop. “Dating back to the birth of our country, our national character has been largely defined by our veterans. As we see today’s soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan acting as our nation’s finest ambassadors, we can be assured that this tradition continues."

"Frontiers of Freedom was honored to be asked to assist in coordinating this important event," said Kerri Houston, Frontiers' VP of Policy. "We recognize the particular importance of America's veterans because for nearly ten years Frontiers has focused on military and defense policy."

The Washington, DC press conference will be supported by satellite press conferences hosted by NFWL women legislators in all 50 states to honor the men and women from all branches of the service, both past and present, who have served our country – often paying the ultimate cost. Speakers will be joined by NFWL legislators, leaders from several Native American tribes and veterans representing those who served in America’s military conflicts.
