"We need to cut spending - massively."
Am not from CA so this question may have already been answered but suppose this loan is approved by the voters. Without spending cuts why won't this sort of situation not crop up again in a few years?

I dunno. I was and am a (lukewarm) Arnold supporter, but I wouldn't be afraid to tell him, "No on the bonds, yes on those 'armageddon' cuts." I'd only support the bonds (which, as largely a refinance of Davis's debt, aren't intrinsically bad) if somehow I KNEW that voters would pass tax hikes instead of taking program/gov't cuts.

As usual I'm disappointed with the Republican Party in California as a whole. Moderation gone mainstream. When all is said and done we are getting what we voted for.
Pity. A conservative party would have taken this excellent opportunity to place the state back on a strong financial footing.
What an irony. Conservatives are now forced to trust that the voters will do what the traditionally "more conservative" party won't.
If Props 56, 57 and 58 pass in two weeks there doesn't seem much point in having a Republican Party in California.
