This article smells fishy. It sounds like pure Republican spin to convince the party's base that the Amnesty Bill is helping the party with hispanics.

I don't buy it.

How can it help with Hispanics when polls show half of them oppose it? Those Hispanics with voting rights *DO NOT* vote on the basis of who's willing to overlook employer scofflaws who hire illegals.

This is indeed spin by private special interests to convince the lumbering, vain, political correctness-addled GOP hierarchy that the party is making inroads in the "Hispanic vote" at the expense of the Democrats. The Bush Administration has done nothing with this amnesty proposal but alienate his voting base---come November, he'll find out there's no one with Hispanic surnames that's replacing those disaffected supporters.
