"Clinton's strengths would compensate for Kerry's weaknesses almost perfectly. Not only is Clinton the most talented campaigner of his generation, but he is also a Southerner -- and since 1948, when Harry S. Truman chose Sen. Alben Barkley of Kentucky as his running mate, every successful Democratic ticket has included a citizen of a Southern state. Besides, people might even pay to watch Bill Clinton debate Dick Cheney. So why not? The first objection, the constitutional one, can be disposed of easily. The Constitution does not prevent Clinton from running for vice president. The 22nd Amendment, which became effective in 1951, begins: "No person shall be elected to the office of the president more than twice." No problem. Bill Clinton would be running for vice president, not president. Scholars and judges can debate how loosely constitutional language should be interpreted, but one need not be a strict constructionist to find this language clear beyond dispute. Bill Clinton cannot be elected president, but nothing stops him from being elected vice president. True, if Clinton were vice president he would be in line for the presidency. But Clinton would succeed Kerry not by election, which the amendment forbids, but through Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, which provides that if a president dies, resigns or is removed from office, his powers "shall devolve on the vice president." The 22nd Amendment would not prevent this succession."

"On Senior Night at University Hall, it was a junior and a freshman that led the Virginia Cavaliers to their fourth win in five tries, as Pete Gillens squad came up with a thrilling 84-82 victory over No. 11 Wake Forest on Tuesday night. Freshman T.J. Bannister had nine points and 12 assists, the most since Harold Deane had 14 in 1992, and Devin Smith scored big basket after big basket, including the game-winner, as Virginia won its third straight game by two points. I thought it was a tremendous game and it was fitting that it came down to the last couple of seconds, Gillen said following the game. Im proud of our kids. They played with great courage.
Great win...NCAAs a distinct possibility now...MUD
I'll just bet you do, brainiac.
Just do me the favor of inviting me to threads where certain posters are participating; lest, I suffer the same fate as poor, sweet, demur "Goldilucky".
OK?
It'd really slay me to have to sit here and see you acting like a puzzled intellectual wringing your hands & asking "How such a thing could've happened?!"
HA!
"Still, I can't help myself..."
No you can't, have been abvle to for all the time I've known you, either.
I never held it against you; moreover, that's -- the only -- reason I've never come down on you with the power of Thor's hammer, too.
HA!!
You're really cracking me up today kid, ya gotta stop it or I might split a gut!
>'You know I've had my beefs with the "old man" over the years...'
"He's had a few unkind words to lob my way as well."
Whoaaaaa, speak for yourself.
The old man's never spoken an unkind word to or treated me with disrespect, ever.
He has told me privately -- as any real man would treat another -- if I would please shut my big mouth on a couple of rare occaisions when I was, how should I say, getting too carried away?
And from what I've learned over the past what, *7* years, of the man is that his having to do that [to me] must've really bugged 'em, too.
Because 99% of the time that man has never involved himself in squabbles or intervened with posters on any issue du jour.
Not unless "mainsprings" were getting so bound up it threatened to turn into a full blown donnybrook & the *combatants* threatened to lay his place to waste.
>...but the fact is, neither the himbo *or* bimbo -- times ten -- running Leperville will ever equal *one* dried up pimple on Robinson's ass."
"I assume the 'himbo' is Arator, but who's this mysterious 'bimbo'"?!
Well why am I *not* surprised that you'd have assumed wrong, huh.
I really don't know the *Arator* character, aside from various bits & pieces of his musings I've gleened over the years, so I've no axe to grind with that guy.
The man's as opinionated & passionate as me is all I really know of him.
I -- for one -- would never hold that against him or anyone else, for that matter.
~& I'm mildly annoyed you'd think I would, too.
Be that as it may, are you that *thick* or what?
Arator doesn't "own" or have anything whatsoever to do with the operation of what clearly is "The Botony Bay of the Internet," does he?
Use your *imagination*, son; and, if that fails?
Get off your keister & look it up.
>Now you go ahead & show me where I'm wrong about Leperville, it's leper-leaders or the ork-like losers who've congregated there. Make my day.
"I don't get over to LP very often, and I post even less (probably ten posts over the last year)..."
Neither do I.
Hell, you're a "veteran". :o)
"...still, I don't hold the place in near the level of disdain you do."
How many times -- on any number of issues -- have I told you I don't give a damn what your stand is.
You're free to think, feel & have any opin you want about anything.
I only pray that -- somday -- you'll extend the same courtesy to me.
For my part the only thing I've ever recommended, no *encouraged* you to do -- both publically *&* privately in the past & recently -- is to stand your ground.
Whatever that ground might be.
"Seems to me there are a lot of good patriots over there, even if some of them spend waaaay too much time and effort talkin' trash about FReeperdom."
You're repeating yourself, didn't you think I understood you the first time concerning that "good patriot" crap?
And I already spoke to you, personally, of my entire take on the subject of the "Good FReepers" and what I think about them.
There's not one over there who wouldn't throw your -- & your family's -- ass under the proverbial bus for the *change* in your pocket.
You want to call the "good patriots" or "good FReepers" well knock yourself out, I'd rather sleep with a rattlesnake because I *know* what that kind of damned snake's apt to do.
"I understand yer 'leper' analogy..."
Good.
Thank God.
Then I'm going to just move along knowing I don't have to waste another minute of my [precious] time repeating myself, yet again.
(*Progress*? I dunno, think I'll wait & see about that. ;^) )
"...but I don't perceive most of the LibertyPosters as the least bit 'orc-like'."
Well I do & you already know my opin of your perception skills by now, too.
But between just you & me?
I'd bet you -- *really*, name the $$ amount, high roller -- the inmates at that shithole even smell like orcs.
Because I'll tell you one thing, they sure in the hell *sound* like 'em; whatwith, their penchent for *cannibalism*?
"I really don't understand why you are so nasty in describing them."
Oh buttercup, please forgive me; but, I thought I was sparing you the colorful *details* of what I really think about 'em.
"In fact, me thinketh thou protesteth too much, LP-TROLL!!"
HA!!
....whatever, sonny.

Geet them in while the geetin' is good as they say!
Just 'cuz I elect to engage you in debate on various and sundry issues don't mean I don't relish and encourage yer right to believe ANYTHING you want to, my FRiend.
"For my part the only thing I've ever recommended, no *encouraged* you to do -- both publically *&* privately in the past & recently -- is to stand your ground. Whatever that ground might be."
Hopefully I've done exactly that over the years...MUD
"The core application software [fer LP.org] was completely designed and written in Perl by Neil McIver, by the same screen name. User Interface Design consultant is "Goldi-Lox" (screen name). Network and system administration support are provided by Carter Braxton (screen name). Several others have also made and continue to make various contributions to Liberty Post such as bandwidth, hardware, advice, article contributions, morale support, and not least of all, funding."
Am I gettin' warm?!

BTW...did you know Eschoir posts over at LP?! I already zinged him once today...but he hasn't responded.

I agree...he'd be an Arkancide waitin' to happen!!
"The party would also oppose it massively, not just from Clinton fatigue. But if some wacko shot Kerry after the convention, Clinton would become ineligible to succeed him. Automatic loss of the White House for the Dims."
I'm not sure there's much Clinton Fatigue at work in the DemonRAT Party...they'd swarm to support Slick Willie if given the chance!! As for the possibility of Kerry gettin' whacked between the Convention and the election, I have no doubt that the Party would simply make the HildaBeast the candidate fer POTUS by acclimation, and the Left'd relish a Clinton/Clinton ticket!!
"Won't fly."
I am sure you are right, but if not, you heard it here first!!

Thanks fer the kind words, my FRiend, but yer gonna tarnish my RadicalRightWingWhacko credentials if it gets out that I'm a closet pragmatist...LOL!!

"As Democrats turn their gaze from their primary campaign to the general election, the outlook -- financially, at least -- appears bleak. The most recent official figures show that President Bush had $104.4 million in his campaign treasury as of Jan. 31, while the Democratic nominee-apparent, John F. Kerry, had a mere $2.1 million. Making matters worse, during the primary race the Massachusetts senator threw his campaign a lifeline with a $6.4 million loan from a mortgage on his Beacon Hill townhouse. It helped him win the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary, but it also left his campaign with a total debt of $7.3 million. Bush, meanwhile, continued to rake in millions from Republican donors while Kerry was fending off Democratic challengers."
