As far as I know, the standard theory still has the Hellenes coming down from the Balkans into Greece, and spreading from there across the Aegean into Asia Minor.
But the whole period towards the end of the Bronze Age was a real mess. Made what we call the Dark Ages look like a summer picnic.

They liked the sea, the main sea to the north was Black Sea, the Greek language is a distant cousin of Armenian and they have old legends like Golden Fleece. My personal guess they were at some time at the eastern coast of Black Sea.
