I think, if Kaloogian really wanted to win the nomination, he would have come up fire and brimstone against Boxer, letting the electorate know that he is determined and capable of defeating her.
And at the Kaloogian events I've been to, HE HAS DONE THAT. You would know that had you attended. He has heavily criticized Boxer, particularly on national security and supports Bush on the war on terror. He just has a different take on amnesty that most Republicans share.
But instead, he holds useless rallies, attacking Bush.
A sizeable rally like this to garner media attention is hardly useless, and is in fact essential to a campaign. And the immigration issue is important to Republicans and remember this is still a primary race, a lesson Richard "Howard Dean" Riordan learned the hard way.
It's a win-win.
But if Jones win, then I guess we'll just have to rally for Jones. Won't be easy we can all agree on.
Will you undermine Jones though if he has a difference of opinion with President Bush that hits the pages of the L.A. Times, at the risk of re-electing Boxer?
