We may have the lead on illegal campaign contributions to Edwards here.

A garnishment action on an overdue small loan reflected that Turnipseed worked at Wynlakes.

A waiter who is having his wages garnished for non payment of a small loan gives $500.00 to attend a fundraiser he doesn't go to?
For a candidate in a primary?
Of his own money?

Turnipseed ... stated that he was asked to donate by a local lawyer, Lee Hamilton.

The lawyer told Turnipseed that Greg Calhoun .... was hosting a fundraiser for Edwards....Turnipseed ... couldn't attend the fundraiser, but he sent a check ....

Most of Edwards money has come from Trial Lawyers. Most of his contributors have already given the max.
It is not unusual in these circumstances for supporters to illegally funnel money to third party's to donate in their own names.
Maurice Stans, Nixon's Campaign Manager in '72 did hard time for that trick.

You might be right. I first got in touch with Brig. Gen. Turnipseed because of the Edwards stuff. In fact, I first got in touch with his psychotic cousin, who is a rabid (crazed even) Democrat, who is a Edwards supporter and the head of the South Carolina Trial Lawyers association.

So this latter Turnipseed (who once wanted to be an Iraqi shield) may have gotten some other member of his extended family to contribute to Edwards to help launder the donations.

Complete agreement on So9's post. That was the first thing that entered my mind.

I'm willing to bet that Sirwill Turnipseed was reimbursed for that $500.

The cousin I was talking about is Tom Turnipseed. He is quite a head case:

Tom Turnipseed is also a personal injury attorney. But mostly he whiles away the hours writing America-hating, Bush-bashing screeds for Commie front operations like Indymedia.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he wasn't using his extended family to get around the FEC.
