Very interesting posting. In Alaska, Hubert Humphrey came very close in 1968, not that it matters now. Michigan only supported Gerald Ford in 1976 because of it was his home state, and went to Gore mainly because of Detroit (95%). In Kentucky, Carter might have won in 1980 if it had not been for John Anderson.
