Which Bush family members lost their dog? George and Barbara or George and Laura?George and Laura. I'm pretty sure that Millie (who belonged to George and Barbara) was Spot's mother.

How sad. I remember the President stating that he carried Barney because he wouldn't behave as well to commands as Spot did.

These people never cease to amaze me! That being said, I used to get teased because we had named our dog "Vito"....to this day, I still don't understand why.

We got a new one a few months ago...it has helped a little, but I still miss my Miss Minnie.
It wasn't easy letting the Vet do what he had to do.

I'm sorry for them. I know what it is like ... last year I lost TWO pets at 17 years old within months of eachother. Cancer claimed both of them.

MISSING OUR DOGS
Old Men miss many dogs.
They only live a dozen years,if that,
And by the time you are sixty, there are several
The names of which evoke remembering smiles.
You see them in your mind, heads cocked and seated.
You see them by your bed, or in the rain,
Or sleeping by the fire by nights
And always dying.
They are remembered like departed children
Though they gave vastly more than ever they took,
And finally you're seeing dogs that look like them.
They pass you in the street but never turn
Although it seems they should, their faces so familiar.
Old men miss many dogs.

I'm pretty sure that Millie (who belonged to George and Barbara) was Spot's mother. So this was the dog that was born in the White House?
To: Howlin
President George H. W. Bush (1989-93) walks onto the White House lawn with his Springer Spaniel, Millie, and Millie's new puppies. One of the puppies is Spot, President George W. Bush's dog, that died today.
