...you should see the letter I got a couple weeks ago from the principal ... it had at least four vocabulary, punctuation, and grammar mistakes... It would be fun to take a red pen to it, correct the mistakes, put a big "F" at the top and mail it back.
Of course, your child still has to go to the school, so I understand how impractical that would be. But still...

Believe me, I've thought about sending that letter back marked up, expressing my concern. Decided I'd better avoid it causing potential difficulties for my child (as I'm perpetually rocking the boat on various issues -- last year it was bathrooms without stall doors or locks and a teacher who was clueless in his subject...). My experience is that, with rare exception, school administrators are defensive excuse-makers rather than leaders...
My child is an honor student and doing fine despite the less-than-optimal setting, but I'm determined the younger children are going to have a more positive experience! Speaking of which, I'd better get back to some lessons now :).
