The ideological rivals bring their war to 3rd District's congressional primary.

WASHINGTON - While Sacramento businesswoman Mary Ose and state Sen. Rico Oller battle it out with former California Attorney General Dan Lungren over who should be the Republican to compete for the 3rd Congressional District, a parallel battle is being played out on a larger stage.

My only question: why can't two groups wield cash in a fight for MY soul, hmmmm? How come that never happens?

Mrs. Wasp and I watched a political commercial come on last night that started attacking Ms. Ose as being a "Liberal!" (which is probably quite true)

We both recognized it immediately, before it was even 10 seconds old, as a Rico Oller slam-bang ruthlessly attacking "Hit Piece!" We didn't even need to wait till the end to recognize the rhetoric and sure enough... "HERE's RICO!" (once again smashing the 11th commandment, right off the bat)

No subtlety whatsoever... No finesse... No class... Like a bull in a china closet!!! He'll do this EVERY time, whether he needs to or not. It's his ruthless trademark and this time it could backfire on him since she's a woman and the sister of a very popular incumbent Republican!!!

Rico is reaching much harder than he needs to with his paintball gun at the church picnic, splattering Mary with ads like this. Somebody needs a more sophisticated political consultant!!!

Thanks for the ping.

Wonder if we have a local battle like this one going on down here?

I get mailings from John Campbell, but I have seen no ads for or against him on the few channels I watch.

I do see the ads against Prop 56 frequently!

You are right. She IS a liberal running in a VERY conservative district. She is purporting to be a typical Republican when she is not.

In MY book such liberals DESERVE to be "slam-bang ruthlessly attacked" -- and often. Good for Rico. God forbid that she winds up in DC siding with East Coast country clubbers while claiming to represent the conservative parts of Sacramento County and the Foothills.

Slam her Rico. Slam her again, and slam her often, and don't be subtle. I sure as h*ll don't want her representing ME in Congress.

Just what I want in Congress. Someone who is going to take 'em, no holds barred!

Sure! I understand what the two of you want, and don't want! I'm of the same bent! I'm concerned that it'll backfire on him with all the others in his district that may react strongly to such a barrage with both barrels, trying to nuke "the little woman" who is such a nice person. I can just hear Tom Sullivan and many other media types hyping her absolute "victimhood" on Monday all afternoon!!!

They'll take GREAT DELIGHT in turning her into a marter(forgot how to spell it) and only Mark Williams will come to Rico's defense. They'll make both him and Rico so defensive it'll become pathetic!!!

They'll act like he's a rape artist, or worse... you wait and see. And it'll be "fellow" Repellicans who will feign all sorts of "disgust" at such "Falling Down" and rude behavior!!!

Then they'll follow-up with a Repellican "Year of the WOMAN!" (gag)(then watch her money raising skyrocket)(Emily's List subscribers are already whippin out their checkbooks in the interest of "fairness")

I find this horribly sexist. You are right but it's such crap. Her gender should have nothing to do with it. She is in competion with him and he shouldn't be required to pull his punches because she of her gender.

Sorry for all the boxing metaphors.

Yep, sexist. But so true.
The race card. The gender card. The minority card. The *victim* wild card.
They'll play the cards they have.
I didn't see it, but if Sierra interpreted the ad as he did, imagine what an on-the-fence voter would think.

Yes, I think she could very well garner a sympathy vote. Sad that mindless people vote that way but we all know it happens. Me, I'll continue to vote according to the positions and how they will support or oppose things.
