Actually, many of the FREE Blacks, including BLACK SLAVE-OWNERS fought, in NON-segregated units, unlike the ALL-black/white-officered Northern units.

And your evidence is? I guess the logic is that if the CSA didn't have segregated units, they must have integrated black troops in with whites. But what factual support do you have? A few wealthy freed blacks contributed to Confederate war loans. Mulattoes in New Orleans trained in their own units but weren't mustered into service by the Confederacy, though they later were by the Union forces. Had free African-Americans been soldiers in integrated units, wouldn't we have heard more about it?

If a personal servant, or barber, or teamster, or slave laborer picked up a gun at one point, did that make him a combatant in a "NON-segregated unit?" Curiously, at the very end of the war, it was reported that African-Americans were being drilled -- but as part of all-Black detachments -- an indication that there was something wrong with the claim that the Confederacy was somehow more integrationist than the rest of the country.

Not when it's being taught by the same people who apparently taught you...

My evidence is, alas, 'anecdotal', and concerns the Texas & Missouri areas.

A (deceased) NM newspaper editor had family records, which he printed excerpts of from time to time. His grandfather was in the war, and his father was a post-war U.S. marshall. They kept diaries & journals. Gene also interviewed many family members of Civil War & Indian Wars veterans during his work with the Medal of Honor Society. The accounts, according to his articles, contained data corroborated by other sources.
By his own admission, it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to get accurate numbers. The best estimate he could arrive at was a minimum of 1,500 and a maximum of 10,000 COMBAT soldiers in the western theater.

Packed away, I have a collection of his newspaper, since he also printed articles on local (to him, not me) archeological work that I was more interested in.

I've visited with him. I've seen filmed interviews of him, concerning some of his field work. I've seen some of his own video & film work concerning Buffalo Soldier battle sites, and the finding & marking of graves of post-Civil War MOH winners. I have no cause to doubt what he printed.

I have also read other accounts of this in other sources.

No; I do not believe in Mu, Lemuria, or foil hats, though I Do enjoy listening & laughing to ArtBell now & then.
