Here's a close-up I made. It seems to have some width, kinda like an anti-aliased line in computer graphics rendering.

I think it could go either way. At any rate it's interesting that the closer we looks at Mars the less we're sure of.

Earlier in the day I used MS photo editor to enlarge the image. Now I look at it in Photoshop and it still has the thread-like appearance when highly magnified.
I am wondering if there are different algorithms for rendering jpegs.
