Yale University chose last week to extend the legacy of St. Valentine [read with sarcasm] by commemorating February 14th with "Sex Week: A Celebration and Exploration of Sex and Sexuality at Yale University." The week's activities, sponsored by Students for a Sexually Aware Campus (read: students for free love), included a series of guest speakers approved by Asst. Dean Edgar Letriz. Among these speakers were porn star Devinn Lane and history professor Naomi Rogers, who lectured on the history of the vibrator.
Not to be outdone, the University of Oregon recently sponsored a production of "The Vagina Monologues." But while there were protestors outside the production hall during the show, they weren't of a conservative bent. Explains protestor Nicole Sangsuree Barrett, "I would just like to call attention to the fact that this could have been a more diverse cast, but a safe and welcoming environment was not created for people that I consider to be 'underrepresented'." Apparently, not even radical feminists can escape the wrath of the Left.
Lest our loyal readership be led astray, St. Valentine was a Christian martyr beheaded by Roman Emperor Claudius the Goth for refusing to worship Roman gods. In protest of Claudius' moratorium on marriage -- he believed single men made better soldiers -- Valentine secretly married couples in the name of God, and, in case you're wondering, Valentine married men and women only.
You're laughing. Why are you all laughing?
Is this a joke? Perhaps academia itself has become the joke.
Forget it is right, if flying was easy everyone would be doing it. :-)
