Tell them that he has been using subtle tactics, but that those type of tactics don't get reported on because they're either too secretive or not impressive enough to get the media's attention.

Now maybe a less hawkish president will take his place and start doing things the right way; teaching and educating instead of continued shooting and bombing Let's all join hands and sing kumbaya.

Teaching and educating..........
How typically arrogant of our liberal friends!
Cut bait. Don't waste your time. You are dealing with people with absolutely no command of history, governments, religions, economics, but an endless supply of self esteem.
They think in terms of warm fuzzies and cold pricklies.

Ask your liberal friends, very simply, if we need more "teaching and educating" instead of "bombing and shooting," then why did their hero Bill Clinton insist on "bombing and shooting" in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq? Remember, Clinton committed us into the Balkans to stop an "ethnic cleansing" a mere fraction of the size of what Saddam has done to his own people. A few thousand people in mass graves in Kosovo was good enough for Rats in the 90s, but 250,000 people in mass graves in Iraq in 2003 is no reason to go to war, they say now!
While we were "teaching and educating" the Islamist world under Klintoon, we had the first WTC bombing, the USS Cole, Khobar Towers...need I go on?
Then we had 9/11, three thousand of our people dead. Bush started "bombing and shooting." Heard much out of the Talibunnies lately? Notice that Libya is now sniffing our hand like a trained puppy? They weren't before the "bombing and shooting" started. Look, there are some people in the world you can reason with, maybe the majority. Islamists aren't in that category. They cannot be reasoned with, they've been proving it worldwide for, what, over fifteen years now?
Islamists must be destroyed. Period.
I'd rather the world love us. If not, I'd like them to respect us. But if they refuse to love us and respect us, they bloody damn well WILL fear us. The choice is theirs.

I know this will be a tough concept for your lib audience to grasp, but this president can do more than one thing at a time. He is both a war president AND an education president. He has done more to tackle corruption in the public education system than any president in recent history, has increased the education budget beyond the dems wildest dreams, demanded accountability from failing schools, and introduced the concept of competition in the academic marketplace.
Unlike his predecessor, President Bush is tough against ALL of America's enemies - foreign and domestic. He is using military force against dictators abroad, and economic force against the bureaucratic dictators here at home.
But I doubt you'll have much success. Don't waste your time with the wild-eyed naysayers. If Dubya really is "your" president, do your homework and have enthusiastic fact-based discussions with friends in your immediate community.
And if he's not really "your" president, do your homework on the guy you're planning to vote for. You will be responsible for that vote, so it had better be an informed one - for the good of the nation we both love.

Bush told the truth after 9/11 when he clearly said that this will be fought with every available asset of the United States, and on many fronts.
I'll choose 4:
Humanitarian
When we kicked off the Military victory in Afghanistan we used our in theater Air Cargo assets to drop food, aid, and medicine to the local population to help them in their plight. Around that same time, Colin Powell secured about 20 Billion in Pakistani debt relief, a huge humanitarian accomplishment that today goes unnoticed and unapplauded. We've done more to bring stability to Afghanistan that the Taliban ever did during their decade long year reign of civil war in their country.
More recently, the Bush 20 Billion dollar AIDS relief package to a large part of Northern Africa is a humanitarian victory for many of the African countries that are divided by religious strife. In addition, The liberation of the people of Iraq, in the end, is a humanitarian act. The liberation of Afghanistan is a humanitarian act.
Financial
Bush seizing the assets of the "holy land foundation" operating in this country for decades before 9/11 was instrumental in stopping money being funneled to the Taliban. We've continued to bring military pressure against similar groups around the world and have compensated a lot of people who have suffered damages from this action. We can out-spend our declared enemy by a factor of 100, and this is an asset that Bush has wielded very very well.
Diplomatic
Colin Powell spelling things out very clearly to Pakistan, and getting Pakistan to capitulate to the reality that they are either going to help us, or suffer greatly, was a huge diplomatic plus for this country. Also, Bush and Condi handling Putin on the Kazakhstan question, and securing the help of the Northern Alliance Securing a unanimous vote with UN 1441 about the same time the GOP won mid-terms was a huge diplomatic feet for this country. As someone who remembers the CCCP, an EAST Germany and a WEST Germany, I never thought I'd see the day when Putin would be intervening on behalf of the USA in a former soviet block country. Bush achieved a great diplomatic victory by keeping all of the would be allies of Iraq from rolling their tanks against our boys. I'm still amazed that not one single country in the region, not a single one, has made a militarily significant maneuver.
Military
You know all of this already, no need to rehash it, so I'll sum it up. From Kabul to Baghdad Bush has defeated 2 of our declared enemies in the course of 18 months. He doesn't have a single credible military detractor.
Look, this stuff matters because this stuff has been war-gamed, by us, many many times before. Ya know how to win? The only way to beat a decentralized enemy is to use all the assets at our disposal, and Bush should be applauded for doing just that.
To the poster: Calmly inform your "liberal friend" that YES, there will be isolationist, opportunistic, appeasement based capitulators in the future of American politics who will spend the political equity Bush has earned, but, as a whitness to 9/11, they will not happen in my lifetime.
