Perata's friend and associate, Timothy G. Staples, has received $313,000 in business from political campaigns initiated or supported by the influential Oakland lawmaker. At the same time, Staples has paid Perata $100,000 in consulting fees that supplement Perata's Senate salary, according to financial records and interviews with the senator.

This isn't good for Perata...and neither is his penchant for carrying a concealed weapon, a right he enjoys but sees unnecessary for the rest of us. I wouldn't want him to do anything drastic, ya know?! (heh, heh.)

Yep. His "good cause" reason for getting a concealed weapon permit was that he fears for his life from those crazy gun nuts, since he is a proponent of gun control. Twisted.

If he were a Republican, his party affiliation would have been in the headline.
