I suppose you are right. In Arnold's day, traitors were awarded the Order of the Hempen Necktie at a dignified public ceremony, not elected to the U.S. Senate.

Still, if you compare Arnold and Kerry's pre-turncoat records, Arnold was an authentic war hero at one time.

Yes, before he turned traitor, Arnold was a war hero, and his contributions were of major importance to the cause. If he had been mortally wounded at the battle of Saratoga, there would be towns, counties, and streets named for him all over the country.
