Thanks for the Dose, Gretchen. Haven't watched news (other than local) in many days, can't stand a minute of it.

Did watch long enough to see President Bush talking to the troops in Louisiana, good to cheer up with!

Be back later.

I miss Ari, too. Scott comes across as though he's trying to avoid answering questions sometimes. He doesn't have an open-looking, friendly face, either. And he doesn't have Ari's ability to defuse tension with humor. None of this is his fault, but it seems very evident.

With the press on a non-stop search and destroy mission against the President, it would help to make a change in the press room.

That is an excellent idea from Mr. Kaloogian! I have been looking for some original ideas on how to reduce the illegal alien problem that would not give ammo to the dems nor be too costly.

My only suggestion to add to this would be that anyone wiring money for an illegal also be subject to prosecution.

You are right. God is holding him up, and I just need to remember to pray constantly. Thanks for the Dose!

Bush needs a Shawn Hannity or Rush Limbaugh as his spokesperson to counterattack these liberal pussies! Man, would I enjoy watching press conferences with one of these 2 in charge! HA!

LOL .. Did y'all catch the piece Brian Wilson just did on Special Report about Kerry and Edwards Multi-Million dollar homes in DC and how they claim they can relate to the Average Joe voter?

"[The legislation would] require any individual who electronically transmits money to a foreign country to be in the United States legally. Before funds can be transferred to another country, the sender must establish their identity with proper identification ... .

No a bad idea .. but how would it be enforced??

[The legislation would] require any individual who electronically transmits money to a foreign country to be in the United States legally.

In other words, make more people have to come here illegally in order to survive? Much better than a man comes here illegally and leaves his wife and children behind. He can send money, and eventually will go back. We don't need to make laws that will make the entire family come.

This is a very poorly thought out idea. Much American money already goes to Mexico. There are large colonies of American retirees who live in Mexico, and collect SS and pensions. Lots of tourists go there as well, not to mention all the people who go there to buy prescription (and not) drugs.

The only way to stop illegal immigration is to have a way to do it legally - on our terms.

***I thought the President looked tired today. He is under the most ruthless assault by the media.***

Yes, he does look tired. We must continue prayers and encouragment to him.

What is the mail situation? If we send a letter, will it get to them, or with the ricin scare will it just be destroyed?

I don't know how he keeps up the schedule ... but he doesn't look as tired as Kerry always does.

***I very seldom watch the press briefings now since Ari is gone. I really miss him***

I miss him too. He was so cute! And so good with the press, so patient. Haven't seen much of Scott Mc.C--are they still televising the news conferences every day?

Thanks, Gretchen. Early dose = great.

I'm on a mission from God (or maybe the other guy)

My good friend who is a yellow dog democrat (which I try to understand because she has been active in the party for 50 years in Texas -- and it's her life) was very nasty today. She sent me one of the slimiest columns from the NYTimes about Pres.Bush's National Guard service.

All of the the accusations in it have been well refuted many times, but they don't care.

On it she also wrote something snide about how embarrassing this must be to George HW who was a WWII war hero.

My mission, should I care to accept it (and I do) is to find

1) a good article refuting all those charges and

2) a nasty article about Kerry.

I plan to send them to her with a note saying, "I know you like Kerry, so I would never send you an article like this and I am wondering why you thought it would be a good idea to send me the smear on our President.

Yes! Hope the President publicizes that when they decide which loser will be up against him.

From the National Review this week:
Maybe, instead of steroids, the State of the Union address should have condemned the use of Botox?
John Kerry would frown about that comment, if he could.

* * *

From an article about John Edwards; "After his birth, Edwards's parents did indeed bring him home to a mill village; in TV and print ads, the campaign has often used pictures of the tiny house where the family lived. But the ads don't mention that Edwards lived in the house from the time of his birth until he was . . . ONE YEAR OLD!" (emphasis mine)

Another interesting fact I'm sure the Bush campaign is aware of . . . :-)

Hi, I just wanted to check in for a few minutes. I had a very bad afternoon. Leslie and I had to go to the funeral home to pick up Janice's death certificates. Boy, I did not want to do that. Have been putting it off for a few days now. I had to take Les to the dr and we went from there to the funeral home. I also got some more bad news. A writer which I have enjoyed for many years passed away and he was only 65. Some of you may have read his books too--William W. Johnstone. His niece and I had been emailing for a few years now and this is a great shock to his many readers. I will really miss his writing.
I have done ok with hubby out of town. I am not going to choir practice tonight. It hurts too much!

I have often said this before on other threads. In any political confrontation between friends, it is always the democrats who start it. I deal with this with family and friends. It is ALWAYS the democrats.

I haven't decided if they are inherently rude, or whether it is sort of like dopers trying to get others to imbibe.

NO, I missed it. If Edwards is rich, what's Kerry? I know, rich my marriage.
