The tube looks hot to me - as in recently fired. That's just the exhaust stack of the tractor. However these guys weren't farmers, or at least not just farmers. In the longer version of the clip, which I've lost the link to, You can see the guys trying to stash either a MANPAD SAM (SA-7 perhaps) or more likely an RPG, in the field. Even in the shorter clip, you can see the second guy tearing the wrapping off of it just before the hammer falls on him.
