"stolen valor" is right about Kerry and his war record---did anyone know that actor Lee Marvin and Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) both got Navy Crosses at Iwo Jima in WW2---Mr Rogers of tv childrens series was a Navy Seal in Nam(with 25 confirmed kills to his credit)--brave men who are heroes don't "brag"--blowhards do
That's how I feel. My Uncle who served in Vietnam in the Army never brags about his service in Vietnam. Real heroes are measured by those who speak highly of the heroes by which they look upon. My mother's father served in Korea, and only goes so far as to say he was stationed off Saipan, nothing more, nothing less. I look upon both my Uncle and Grandfather with the same kind of respect and honor as the many thousands of men and women who have gone to all four corners of this world to fight to protect the freedom for this country and the freedoms of those around the world.
I cannot however, look at Senator Kerry in the same regard as those who do not brag about medals or ribbons or who denigrate the service of those who proudly served without having to brag about it. Senator Kerry is a small man who feels the need to stand on the backs of those like my Uncle and Grandfather and countless other bona fide heroes just to look heroic. Military service runs deep and wide in my family, and I'm proud of each and every one of them. Senator Kerry touched a nerve with me when he denigrated Bush's honorable service in the ANG. I'm unable to join the military for physical reasons, but nothing angers me more than the traitorous past that Senator Kerry tries to keep buried from the American public.
