Sacramento -- A developer and longtime ally of state Sen. Don Perata opened a political committee last year to raise money for Democrats across the state. The fund quickly collected $135,000 from four corporations -- all of which have donated generously to the Oakland lawmaker as well.

This is the guy who is all for raising the bridge tolls from $2 to $3, and stated that it's easy to raise fees like that because people are happy to impose costs on others (in this case, those who use the bridges in their commutes) for their own benefit. What a nice guy!

Perata, whose district includes Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley and Alameda, has a reputation for being a staunch liberal who has championed strict gun control laws, as well as the rights of the poor and minorities.

Keep them dumb, defenseless and voting DemoRat.

Sen. Don Perata, a rabidly anti-gun California legislator, is one of the few SF Bay area residents with a permit to carry concealed firearms. His senate district includes Oakland, Piedmont, Berkeley and Alameda. Can't say he's a stupid guy as he actually does carry...

I think that there are fewer than 200 CCW permits in Alameda county, and if I remember correctly, that county has about 2 million residents.
