I just don't get it. If she's so intent on having her story told, why flee? And if the story is much worse than we've heard so far, why would Polier follow the advice of Kerry at all? It doesn't make sense.

Her "flight to Africa" was reportedly undertaken two months later.

Maybe she heard something she didn't like in the intervening two months. Or maybe she received an unexpected windfall from somebody. Or both.
