I think people need to be careful with saying she "fled the country". My understanding is that she went to Kenya in October. For you or I to go to Kenya might seem weird and fishy, but her fiance was raised in Kenya and she is reportedly there with him visiting his parents.

Well the report was that she fled at Kerry's urging, but that's what we're trying to figure out.
