i agree - we must let them nominate this "target rich" guy in peace and plan our strategy carefully, not going off half-cocked now. we will only hurt the Prez. it all has to be framed very carefully. by the way, i heard Ollie North say that many of the military in Vietnam did not accept their third Purple Heart because they sent you home. Kerry accepted his and left early from what i read. hmmmmm.... that tidbit and the fact that "real" heroes rarely speak of their heroism in public apparently speaks to more than a few vets.

I don't know what your point was. My point is guilt by association before the guilty deed was done is a wrong thing to stain a man with. Is Bush "stained" because of any association with the Bin Laden's? Is Kerry "stained" with any association with Jane Fonda? Especially if the association was before the Bin Laden's and Fonda did anything to be stain worthy?

I just finished filling out form SF 180...

Is there a set time limit under the FOIA regarding the response to such requests or can they just put you off until, say, November 15th? I had to do some FOIA requests in my job years ago and the information was a very long time coming. Just wondering if the FOIA has been amended since then.

Apparently you are not intelligent enough to be able to distinguish the difference between something an individual does and blaming a person due to something that someone in that person's family has done.

My point exactly. So what did Jane Fonda do before her trip to Hanoi (the time frame with any meeting possible with Kerry) that stains Kerry then?

It's obvious to me that socialism and "One World Order" is the agenda.

George Bush supports the pillar of one world order-globalization.

So that makes him guilty of what?

So why are the veterans lining up to support him?

Didn't I just read somewhere that many of those supposed Vietnam veterans are not really even Nam vets at all? (Yes, I did. I just wish I could find it now.)

I can almost believe that Fonda might have forgotten meeting Kerry, but I don't believe for a moment that Kerry would have forgotten meeting Jane Fonda.

Jane was probably right - they didn't shake hands at the Valley Forge protest. They most likely hugged.

The following was posted on FReepers a few days ago in response to questions about Kerry's military service, medals and wounds:

Source: http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnkerry.com/ Kerry graduated from Yale University in 1966.

Like John F. Kennedy (who served on a World War II patrol boat, PT 109), Kerry sought to do the same. He enlisted in the Navy and became an officer.

After training, Kerry volunteered for Vietnam. He served a relatively uneventful six months, far removed from combat, from December 1967 to June 1968, in the electrical department aboard the USS Gridley, a guided-missile frigate that supported aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin.

His ship returned to its Long Beach, Calif., port on June 6, 1968. Five months later, Kerry went back to Vietnam, securing an assignment as "swift boat" skipper. Kerry commanded his first swift boat, No. 44, from December 1968 through January 1969. He received no medals while serving on this craft.

While in command of Swift Boat 44, Kerry and crew operated without prudence in a Free Fire Zone, carelessly firing at targets of opportunity racking up a number of enemy kills and some civilians. His body count included-- a woman, her baby, a 12 year-old boy, an elderly man and several South Vietnamese soldiers.

"It is one of those terrible things, and I'll never forget, ever, the sight of that child," Kerry later said about the dead baby. "But there was nothing that anybody could have done about it. It was the only instance of that happening."

Kerry said he was appalled that the Navy's ''free fire zone'' policy in Vietnam put civilians at such high risk.

Kerry experienced his first intense combat action on Dec. 2, 1968. He was slightly wounded on his arm, earning his first Purple Heart.

In late January 1969, Kerry joined a five-man crew on swift boat No. 94 completing 18 missions over 48 days, almost all of them in the Mekong Delta.

Kerry earned his second Purple Heart after sustaining a minor shrapnel wound in his left thigh on Feb. 20, 1969.

February 28, 1969:

When Kerry's Patrol Craft Fast 94 received a B-40 rocket shot from shore, he hot dogged his craft beaching it in the center of the enemy position. To his surprise, an enemy soldier sprang up from a hole not ten feet from Patrol Craft 94 and fled

The boat's machine gunner hit and wounded the fleeing Viet Cong as he darted behind a hootch. The twin .50s gunner fired at the Viet Cong. He said he "laid 50 rounds" into the hootch before Kerry leaped from the boat and dashed in to administer a "coup de grace" to the wounded Viet Cong. Kerry returned with the B-40 rocket and launcher.

Kerry was given a Silver Star for his actions.

"On a related subject, Brinkley said that Kerry's Vietnam war wounds, for which he received three Purple Hearts, were not particularly serious.

Asked about the severity of Kerry's injuries, Brinkley told Malzberg, "They were minor wounds."

Was Kerry playing "Purple Heart Polo?" The Dems are so hot for Bush to release all files (which he has done), but Kerry keeps insisting that his Purple Heart records be kept secret. What we know is this: He never spent a day in the hospital, his records are (by his request) sealed, he spent 3 months in Vietnam, after which he filed to go home under an obscure "3-and-out" rule, which nobody else seemed to know about.

Then he came home and immediatley began making a crusade out of telling the whole world that Vietnam vets are a pack of rapacious, murderous creeps.

I often wonder why Kerry was so stupid as to put himself into a situation like this by constantly bringing up his service every single time he talks. Is he really that jealous? Does he really want to bring a disaster on his campaign? It is a given that he served. That part of his life would have come out naturally in some form or another and people would have accepted it as a good part of his resume. BUT, his big ego has made this into a tit for tat contest before he even got the nomination and now the scrutiny has begun. You would think he would want the presidency so much that he would keep the slinging to a minimum and focus on the issues. He has opened up pandora's box and now he cannot close it. Stupid is as Stupid does!
