Don't sneer at those one penny ginsu knife sets. eBay fortunes were made on them. See, those ginsu knife sets cost about $1.65 wholesale. The shipping cost per unit is about $3.00 but for 10 units only rises to about $6.00 while the seller is receiving $50 for the penny ginsu sets PLUS shipping. Subtract $16.50 + $6.00 shipping and the seller is left with a profit of over $27.00. And believe me, multiple units are frequently ordered. This isn't done as much as a few years ago but that was/is how the money was/is made. Sellers were sell HUNDREDS of those sets on each Dutch auction.
