Dick Durbin and U.S. Rep. Ray LaHood, R-Ill., have introduced joint resolutions in the U.S. Senate and House for a constitutional amendment calling for the direct election of the president and vice president, including a provision for a runoff election. Hillary Clinton signed on as a co-sponsor of this bill which had been introduced in 1993.

Well good for them. It will never pass Congress with the needed 2/3 votes nor will you ever find 38 states that will ratify it. While states like Kalifornia, New York, and Illinois, would jump at the chance since they'd be deciding every presidential election, mid sized and small states wouldn't do it in a million years.

Let's not forget we always let the Rats define the terms and conditions for issues debate.

It's not abortion, it's pro-choice.
It's not anti-abortion it's right to life.

It's not homosexual marriage, it's civil unions

ad nauseaum....

Kerry denies intern issue and will no longer discuss his "intern" issue, President Bush provides a document dump.
Sometime, somewhere this electoral college dismantling issue will get legs as a discussion under another name.

Remember the missing FBI files and remember the Republican votes against throwing Bill out of office? Fred Thompson headed up the investigations on filegate, then he voted no about throwing Clinton out then he suddenly resigned.
