I saw the skit with Triumph the Insult Dog. He walks a fine line between hilarious and vulgar. When it's working, it's very funny. The French-Canadian stuff was a home-run. The look on people's faces was priceless.

"So, you are a Separatist then? Why don't you try separating yourself from doughnuts? Listen, you here that? That is the sound of no one giving a sh#t."

"The "funniest" thing about O'Brien's show is the federal and Ontario governments poured $1 million of our tax dollars into the visit."

Now they know how we feel about NPR.

"But I wonder how he'd feel if we let Canada's Insulting Beaver Puppet loose on U.S. TV to yuk it up about Sept. 11."

You don't have to wonder, we only have to wait till the next time a few ignorant Canadians boo our National Anthem at a hockey game. I like hockey, it's too bad the Canadian national pastime in on life support - sort of like their health care system.

Poor widdle wiberals! After decades of giving the finger to conservatives and Christians, they are now filling their diapers full over what offends them.

I wonder: are all the folks from 'Frantic Times' still around?
THEY gave everybody a REASON to laugh at Canada. :)

"You're in North America. ... Learn the language!"
God forbid you should say THAT to anyone today!

Jeez, Canadians must lack a sense of perspective. That's like me joking abut someone's bad haircut and they respond with a joke about my mother being a whore.

How's _that_ joke go?

Triumph was most of the funny stuff. They did fool with street signs, changing them to "Queerbec Way" and "Rue des P**sies." The big mistake that the writer made with all of his conspiracy nonsense was to assume that anyone cares enough to do anything to Canada. If the whole country disappeared into the ocean, other than helping secure our northern border, what difference would it make?

The classic defense, when one is sued by the party who claims to have been libeled, is to point out that the alleged libel was really speaking the truth about activities that the complainant was known to be engaging in, and this activity can be verified.

French Canadians behave pretty much as Triumph the Insult Dog describes them. They may be insulted, but they are also caught dead to rights, acting like the boorish peasants they are. Their pretended ignorance of the English language is a conceit they use to express passive aggression.

<< JOSH FREED: Conan will probably go home convinced we Quebecers are a humourless winter people who can't take a joke. >>

Given that you are also incredibly bloody stupid [Four hundred years in North America and -- except for those of you who are down in Southern Californis stealing all of the criminal alien jobs from the Mexican criminal aliens -- still can't speak the language, for Goodness sakes!] we're amazed you figgured that out.

<< This for a late-night U.S. show that only gets [sic] 3 million viewers ... >>

About 2.9 million more, that is, than the closest Canadian "competition."

<< For the last two years we Canadians have become more and more distant from a U.S. run by George W. Bush. We've proposed legalizing pot laws and gay marriage. We've refused to fight in Iraq. We've become so anti-Bush a poll in last week's Maclean's magazine found only 15 per cent of Canadians would vote for him as a leader.

Hear that Conservatives? They are doing polls in other countries to discuss business that isn't even theirs. If it hasn't been declared already, this is going to be a war between us and the world. The enemy already has a huge foothold in this country. It is called the Democrat Party. >>

Spot on!

So far there are only us, Australia, the Kiwis [Excluding their government] and Israel firmly on our side and all of the hesperophobic rest, decidedly unfriendly Canada preeminent among them, to some extent or other on the other side! Tiny Blair, overwhelmingly outnumbered in once-great britain, doesn't count.

Apples and oranges and really, really bad, stupid and hurtful analogy. It is one thing to make witty observations on people's behavior -- that is 90% of humor through the ages. It is another thing to suggest the unprovoked killing of 3,000 innocent people -- ANYWHERE -- could be the target of humor. To my knowledge, there is no analagous event in Canadian history. Also, many Canadians were killed on 9/11. These Canuks really take themselves seriously if this is the analogy they with to propose.

Very well-said. That line in the article referring to "yukking it up about September 11" raised my blood pressure.

The "funniest" thing about O'Brien's show is the federal and Ontario governments poured $1 million of our tax dollars into the visit.

That's SOCIALISM for you. I hear that in Canada, Canadian musicians are just about guaranteed airplay on the radio.

Conan's show had a number of Canadian actors who are big in America (including Jim Carey who ate an American passport on camera and said "It tastes like manifest destiny"; hmmm, the Canadians don't seem upset by that outrageous display of nation bashing). Conan's show also appeared to have some "strictly Canadian" musical guests (performers who've never been below the "south" of the border).

The Canadian government basically paid to get these people on the air by contributing to the show. Now some would call that payola but in Canada it is socialist government business as usual.

But I wonder how he'd feel if we let Canada's Insulting Beaver Puppet loose on U.S. TV to yuk it up about Sept. 11. We all have our raw nerves and O'Brien just hit ours.

So somehow thousands of people dying in a firey death, being crushed alive, falling to their deaths, having their throats slashed is somehow equivalent to being part French?

Did they ever actually WATCH the show before inviting him. His humor is not exactly the pinnacle of good taste. I don't care for him, but you'd think they would have done some research. That being said, where on Earth is their sense of humor? They can't take some words uttered by a freakin sock puppet. Rush is right...Liberals have NO sense of humor.

As I posted in another thread, liberals have absolutely no sense of humor.

The character Triumph the dog does this to EVERYONE, not just French Canadians. What a ego they have.

You do not hear any Americans bitching about Triumph slapping them down.

Man, Canadians, get a grip. And you French Canadians: Take your once a month shower, smoke some of your legal weed, and take a break!!

My letter to the author:

You demand that Ottawa protect you from a hand puppet because you are convinced said puppet is a CIA operative. Is it any wonder outsiders consider French-Canadians wimpy?

PS: My grandmother was Quebecois. She didn't have a sense of humor either.
