Africa was so wonderful back in those days before the Fall.

Before Pandora picked up her package.

D--n UPS.

UPS = ???

You know, if it's fair game to ask Arnold Schwarzenegger whether his father was a Nazi, and if it's fair game to ask Mel Gibson whether his father is a "Holocaust Denier," then why the hell isn't it fair game to ask Teresa Whatever-Her-Name-Is whether Herr Doktor Thierstein had any fascist sympathies - whether, say, he'd take a stroll down to the docks every afternoon, and make a mental note of which ships were coming, and which ships were going. Or whether the Thierstein household might have had some [how shall we say?] exotic overnight visitors in the period 9-1-1939 to 5-8-1945 - the sorts of people who wouldn't want to be seen by, oh, I dunno, the British, or the Americans?

During the early part of the twentieth century, Portugal was not a strong colonial power and relied on outside capital, primarily British, to finance the development of Mozambiques infrastructure through large, ostensibly Portuguese companies which were granted charters to govern large areas of Mozambique. After 1928, Portugal itself was ruled by António Oliveira Salazars fascist personalised autocracy which imposed strict controls over much of the countrys social and economic life. Salazar's imperialist aims included the total control of Portugals colonies by Lisbon and the exploitation of those colonies resources for the benefit of Portuguese capitalists.
