Amazing that a kid from Everett, of all places, would be a convert to islam. It is the most blue-collar, down-home, All-American place. You go to McDonalds and men hold the door open for you.

I am genuinely curious as to where/how this kid went to islam.

Reminds me of that other traitor who was caught fighting with the Taliban. All I can say is I guess our gene pool isn't pure.

Except for his alleged diversion to Islam, this guy's letters to the Spokane paper (Link at #22) sound like something a Freeper would write.

What concerns me -- is how did the Feds catch this guy ??

Just what were they watching ??

The thing I noticed about that whole Seattle-to-Olympia area is the striking lack of churches. Being from the South, it was pretty noticeable. Not surprising that the influence of goofy religions and general anti-Americanism run rampant around there. (Evergreen is near there, yes.)

Not really. I have two beautiful sons 34 and 32 yrs old. The oldest one became a Muslim serving the Army in Germany and fought in the Gulf War. We were surprised, and thought; no, hoped that it was a temporary brain fart. His circle of influence in the army was primarily African-American Muslims. Remember, this was Pre-9/11...back in 1990. Today, he is a devote Muslim and went to Haj in 2002.

The younger one converted in the Fall of 2001 and returned from Haj last week. He married Muslim. He is a gentle spirit.

To be honest, they didn't take America's side when the towers fell. It caused some problems since they were working as partners in my business. For example, they refused to let me put up the Flag on the office window or door. So, you can say, I got a taste of living in an environment where you aren't the majority.

We know better than to discuss politics. They don't vote anyway, so I knock wood that the Liberals are losing 2 potential votes.

I guess what I am trying to say is that they too grew up in a blue-collar city...450 miles away from me. Their mother kept them in line and they never brought the police home. Their babysitter was Nurse Cratchett and a strict Baptist..which probably accounts for their back turning on Western Christianity.

Hi MarMema... back late to this thread. I attended WSU for a year. I don't remember any middle eastern/islamic studies and most people wee actually woking hard to get an education. It seems to me that the official imams or whatever the recruiters are called, all tell the new followers that the west is satan. Christianity asks us to convert people, but through example and love. Jesus was strong but compassionate. He refused amny earthly treasures and worked with the poor and sick. He never married and wasn't rich. He loved his enemies. He accomplished that which was impossible for us.

But Islam clearly teaches that non-beleivers are evil and can be killed or used as slaves. Enemies were to be fought in battle. Their "leader" was a warrior who killed people and had many wives and riches.

So, what's the big surprise that Islam is such a "religion of peace"? /s
