'Marriage was a covenant instituted by God. People who wish to live a lifestyle contrary to what God Himself ordained, should not seek to have that choice be accepted by those who see their activity as a sinful lifestyle choice.' Then don't marry them in your church.
Or better yet, get government out of the marriage business.

That is the part of this issue that I don't get. Those against gay marriage using the argument that marriage is "a covenant instituted by God" still want that covenant enforced by the secular authorities.
Why is that?

Tell you what, you make those changes first then get back to us, OK?

Or better yet, get government out of the marriage business. Then what standards do you set for adoptions and foster parents?

I can't agree more, CoolGuyVic. The government invited this fight when it sanctioned, taxed, punished and provided benefits to a "religious institution". Funny how no one seems to complain that this violates the establishment of religion clause. This is Government sanctioned religious status, if we buy everyone else's argument.
Government adotpted it, now it is theirs. Gay men and lesbians are now asking for their place at the table. Nothing more.
For those of you complaining, If you don't want same sex marriage, then stand up and renounce all the privileges you receive because of your relationship status and say that Government should get out of the religion business.
