"Sue me."
If you were as important as you seem to think you are you might be fair game, but I'll probably continue with my own life by doing big things and letting others pretend.

"I think it is counterproductive."
In some ways, yes, in others not.
"When people see the real photos [...] they will say--oh, it's just another fake."
I believe that the image won't be as viewed as much as people will believe that the Kerry-Fonda link is real..which it is...and that he spoke at a rally with her...which he did. That's it? That's all?
You say its counterproductive, he says yes and no.
You say people will say its a fake, he says the Kerry-Fonda link is real.
That's it?
That's a bit much to blame a conspiracy on, don'cha think?
Opps. Forget I asked that. Don't bother answering this -- I wouldn't want to take up any more of your valuable time.

I'm not talking about your judgment on posting that FReepmail. I'm talking about copyrights, lawsuits, and so on. If you publically post an email like that it can become evidence if things are going to go legal. This has become big enough that someone is going to smell money and decide to go after some.
You are worried about damage to the site--so am I. What you did might exacerbate this. I'm no lawyer, but I'm guessing that maybe this thread could damage the site far more than Registered's photo.

Did you play the Black Knight in Monty Python and The Holy Grail? No. Why do you ask? I thought you had better things to do than banter with me.
Or is General Turnipseed not answering his phone these days?

You don't have a clue as to what you are talking about. Anything sent to me, a letter, an email, any similar communication, becomes my property. I can do what I want with it.
You can look it up.

This was no typical Registered photo parody. His behavior was odd too. After questions came up about the photo, which was presented as a scanned portion of newspaper, Registered said he didn't know if it was real and implied that he got it via email. Then he changed the photo to which his post pointed. Later, someone found another copy of the photo on Registered's site and it started to get posted everywhere. Once it was demonstrated that the newspaper clipping was fake the Admin Moderators started pouncing on them and deleting posts containing the fake photo and then Registered changed that photo file to another pic. Mind you, this took place over several hours with many people trying to get Registered to actually respond.
Registered then sent me a FReepmail about it in which it was clear to me that it was an intentional hoax. (He doesn't like it called that, but that is what it was.) He also replied to one of my replies and later pinged me to a comment in a thread which further demonstrated why he did it.

That's it? That's all? Why the sudden interest in this? And why are you trying to pick a fight with people about this?

I'm not telling you what you can and can't do with the FReepmail. I'm telling you what you did is dishonorable to Registered and to Jim Robinson--who is, after all, the only one who really has a right to an opinion of who has damaged his site.
You think JR is wrong and you put up evidence you say proves him wrong--but you didn't provide it to HIM first.

Are you sure you're not Registered's mom?
Look, I had no idea that Jim Robinson had pronounced on the issue and that consequently all further commentary should first be run by him. Thank you for pointing that out.
I was under the impression that the moderators here worked with Mr. Robinson, to remove misinformation. And that is why they removed Registered's photoshopped photos--even after they were reposted again and again.
Spiff asked a good question above, which I doubt either Reformed Democrat or you will answer. But what is all of this to you? Registered did something wrong. He seems to have done it with his eyes wide open. Neither I nor Spiff or anybody else who is pointing it out are to blame for that.
Get a grip.

I'd be proud to be Registered's mom. He's extremely talented, and contributes a lot to the site, to conservatism, and therefore, to my country.
If he made an error in judgment, so be it; I believe it was well-intentioned. And it was FUNNY. It was FUNNY because it had the RING OF TRUTH. As Dave Barry says,
"Yes, I have made mistakes. But who has not? Are you perfect? Can you look yourself in the eye and honestly say: ''I have never, while high on crack, driven a bank-robbery getaway car into an elementary school?'"

I offered to Jim Robinson to send the FReepmails from Registered. He did not respond.

Then that should have told you something about whether this was worth continuing to fight on multiple threads.
Registered may have made a mistake of unusual proportions. He's not our enemy.

In the time you've been a member here, Hon, you have established yourself as a hard-working person, and have posted some very substantive, interesting threads.
Registered has a long history at FR; he has made many, many satiric photos; I understand why Jim Robinson would give him the benefit of the doubt.
Now, as we saw on Fox News Sunday, news of the fake picture--posted "on the Internet", according to Chris Wallace--is out there. Chris WAllace poo-poohed it as coming from the INternet, as if the Internet means it's fake.
That's not true... stuff is not necessarily fake, but it is oftentimes true and certainly fresh. However, obviously, information coming from the INternet needs to be checked out. Apparently Newsmax didn't do that.
You know, if NewsMax has people surfing/lurking on FR to get information, it seems to me that organization should "get to know" FR enough that they would know that Registered's specialty is parody; his own website is full of pardody. Otherwise they shouldn't post it as "news." It's Newsmax's fault... Like Howlin said, NM didn't give credit.
You know... FR is like a meeting in a coffee shop. People come and gossip and trade jokes... But a good reporter won't just run with some piece of gossip they hear in a coffee shop... that reporter will back it up.
The fault lies with Newsmax--or any other "news" organization that presents itself as disseminating the truth to the public--not with Registered.
And thanks to the Freepers that did Newsmax's work for it/them by letting them know it wasn't a real picture.
