Yes, I think so. It did not give Adam and Eve the knowledge of "good and evil" as the Bible purposely states, but removes the inhibition of prudent judgement between good and evil. That passage of the Bible, IMO, is the first "Just Say No" advertisement in human history.

I would like to go on record, however, to note that any of the above theory excludes substances such as Guinness and the like. Thank you.

I don't see how it would have made their nakedness seem evil to them, more likely the opposite. We need to be careful reinterpeting the Book, once we start it's hard to find a place to stop.
