It seems that Robinson needs to speak with todays mod.
I will inform him of such. I also had this thread pulled of front page news.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1076732/posts

Dean calling Kerry Corrupt and proving it.
My suggestion is we go the head of the Freerepublic
command, and let him hear about it and reply.

That thread was, and still is, listed in Front Page. And it wasn't put back. It never was taken out.

In the true spirit of a conservative news forum, I think we should stick to fixing people's computer problems, captioning photos, and discussing the relative merits of posting breaking news stories.

I agree with your assessment. I was just about to leave for work when I noticed the original thread. I also noticed 400+ messages, the first 50 of which were nonsense. I was actually wishing someone would do what you had done; i.e., post the actual story. Instead, I took the time to go to Drudge.

I went there twice and could not find it, apparently, either there was a glitch, or I missed it.

Hint: If a story is breaking as the Drudge and NewsMax stories were, you will have some who do not want the news
seen that is Pro-Bush. We are a conservative site, and expect lead stories favorable to our cause to be seen, as they are breaking.Duplicates are not necessary but the two stories in question were original posts.

A story will only ever show up in one of your configured sidebars. So if you post something to extended and frontpage, as you did, on some of your page loads it could show up in frontpage and in others it could show in extended. Which is another reason to not post things in several of the default sidebars.

Replace the old thread with the new in breaking news and add links to point to the other from each thread.

Here's what I think should happen. Just my opinion...

I think that the ability to post something directly in Breaking News sidebar should be taken away. We should then post our articles, just as always. Then the moderators can "upgrade" articles to the Breaking News sidebar as they see fit.

This should end all the squabbling and all the "hurt" feelings about having one's post downgraded in status.

Also, during a genuine breaking story, the moderator should not have to choose the very first thread posted on that sujbect. The moderator may choose the thread with the most details to be the thread to represent the breaking news story on the sidebar.

Thus, a breaking news thread that is linked to a genuine article might be chosen over a "DRUDGE FLASH - NOTHING FOLLOWS" type thread that was posted 10 minutes prior.
