Any chance this is a scam by Kerry's campaign to give Kerry an explanation (e.g., you can't believe internet rumors) to ward off future, and true, criticisms of his behavior?

many possibilities...

1. The DNC or Kerry campaign leaked this story to get it out now, rather than later.

2. The Dean or Edwards people leaked it to revitialize their sagging campaigns.

3. The Bush admin leaked it because they'd rather run against Dean or Edwards than the Kerry/Kennedy juggernaut.

4. The Clintons leaked it to take Kerry out of the race so Dean or Edwards could lose and set up Hillary for '08.

5. The Clintons leaked it because Kerry would not name Hillary as VP, but Edwards will. Edwards loses and becomes a pariah but Hillary starts looking "presidential".
