Then I suspect that's the reason why the media has been pressing the president so hard on the National Guard story. They HAD to know about this and wanted to muddy him before Kerry got his turn.
I agree. I've been thinking the press seemed more zealous, more motivated than just their usual "get Bush" strategy. The timing was way too early in the campaign, the Guard story had been done to death in 2000 yet, reporters were suddenly obsessed with it.
