I've never understood this whole Conrad Black thing. All I know is that his papers were wonderful and a good representation of what the business was all about. Perhaps that's why the long knives have come out, perhaps he was just too dangerous.
Actually, everything I know about Conrad Black and Hollinger I just now learned from this column...and truthfully, if it wasn't a Steyn column, I likely wouldn't have read it...
...which just goes to show you the value of writers like Steyn!
It may seem a rather esoteric topic at first glance, but considering the state of "newspapering" here (and apparently there, now, as well), it's good to be aware of these things. (and besides, most of the time it's good thing to expand one's knowledge, if it's not gleaned from DU, that is, DemUnderground...Doug from Upland's OK, hehe!)
