The Comcast offer for Walt Disney Co. may have shocked Wall Street, but knowledgeable people in Hollywood weren't even surprised.
Industry sources say Comcast has privately expressed a desire to acquire Disney for a long time, although Disney's ownership of amusement parks always seemed to be a stumbling block.

Tipping the balance in favor of a Disney bid were probably two things: fruitless negotiations recently between Disney and Comcast, and one Comcast executive's private disdain for what Disney has done to ABC, the television network it bought eight years ago. That's mighty interesting.
