The White House last night released a document showing that President Bush was at a military base in Alabama during the last year of his National Guard service, but aides backed away from his weekend pledge to release all his military records.

Bush's staff provided copies of a one-page record of a dental exam, complete with drawings of Bush's teeth, that showed he was at Dannelly Air National Guard base in Montgomery, Ala., on Jan. 6, 1973.

The document is the first definitive evidence that Bush showed up at a base of the Alabama National Guard during a period of about a year, from May 1972 to May 1973, for which it was unclear how the president had fulfilled his military service. Earlier this week, the White House released records showing Bush had been paid for days of service during that period, including the date of the dental exam. But the records did not say where Bush had been.

The White House released the records this week in an effort to end a controversy that has put White House aides on the defensive amid Democratic accusations that Bush shirked his duty. Administration officials declined yesterday to commit to releasing further records, despite a statement Sunday by Bush on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he would open his entire military file.

Why would they? From what I gather, the photo was taken in 1970, rather before Fonda made her little visit to VietNam. And he's not sitting with her - he's like 20 yards behind her, ferchrissakes. I'm not out to defend the guy, but that whole business is just plain absurd.

I respectfully disagree. Once Jane Fonda came out to defend Kerry about the photo, it became a news story that the WaPost should have covered. They both spoke at the same rally and she bankrolled his group. And if we're going to examine minutia about every minute W spent in Alabama in the Guard, including quotes by discredited sources, then that picture, and the circumstances behind it, should be covered, including the fact that Jane Fonda felt compelled to defend John Kerry over it!

I haven't heard word one about the AWOL story this morning. Guess it's over.

David Gregory said last night that this story will live through the campaign..too many unanswered questions...it's not going away...

Gregory, of course, doesn't want it to go away. No bias there!

Actually I want to see Kerry's.... with those scratches he got that bought him the Purple Hearts.

I coach girl's soccer and had a sixth grader wearing cleats step on my foot last year... **SNAP** goes my toe... I was immobilized for days.

I bet I was more injured in that incident than Kerry was during the entire Vietnam War.

Last night I caught Hannity running down a list of weapons programs that Kerry voted against. It seemed like it was every single one.

Huck, if you can recall them, list them.I've seen a short list but damn near everthing we are using now, he was against. Kerry's a pig.
