Not only that, but also the blood of Vietnamese civilian non-combatants, according to a Zumwalt conversation with W. Scott Thompson. His claims that everyone was committing atrocities in Vietnam was apparently to help justify his own actions.

Somebody needs to call Francis Ford Coppolla and ask if John Kerry was a consultant
for that scene in "Apocalypse, Now" where the innocent Viets get blasted by
the riverboat crew.
(I hope I'm remembering that scene correctly...)

AND I'm NOT hanging a guilt-trip on anybody who's accidentally hit the
wrong target in white-hot heat called "the fog of war"...
