Evans says, "Taxes are so high in Europe. And the cost of the welfare state and regulation is so high that people actually don't have the money to raise children. I think if you look at failing state education on this continent, if you look at tax rates of 40, 50, 60 percent, then you begin to understand why parents, if they're planning to have children, ?usually plan increasingly to have one or two." The 'EU' to become a 'Hindu' Empire?

"Why aren't European women having more children? The two reasons given most by Europeans are that women are choosing careers over motherhood, and the high cost of raising children in Europe."
FORCE the woman to have more children by threatening them to have a certain amount of children over 10 years or face jail time.
It is no more wrong to force woman to have children then it is to force them to pay taxes.

Why aren't European women having more children? The two reasons given most by Europeans are that women are choosing careers over motherhood, and the high cost of raising children in Europe. The other reason is that abortion is readily available.

The euros are being illogical, comparing the US to the EU. Given the nature of the EU, the only rational comparision would be to compare the size of the population, size of the economy, etc, of NAFTA vis a vis the EU. When one considers just how small the gap is between the size of the economy and population of the 15-nation EU versus the one nation USA, it's hard to see why the euros think that gap is something to boast about.

Even banning all abortions won't help because most Western European women rarely get pregnant at all because of a variety of birth controls (This is not true in Eastern Europe).
The governments are just going to have to force women somehow to have more babies either by threatening jail time or massive fines.

Since the Europeans' demographic problems will stop them from dominating us shouldn't we be happy about this?

Have the government punish women for not having children? Are you a conservative or a fascist? That's the stupidest thing I've seen on FR.

"Have the government punish women for not having children?"
Well what is your solution?
If they do nothing then Europe will go extinct.

I think TOO MUCH government is the problem in Europe. They should stop forking over all those benefits to the immigrants and then they wouldn't be having the innundation of refugees that they have.

What was that saying a few years ago, "you can not fool mother nature."
To: BUSHFAN2004

Europeans aren't having children because Europeans fear their future. They are pessimistic. They are depressed. They are self-centered, into the moment, don't want additional "responsibilities," as well as due to the fact that their nuclear families have broken down, broadly.
You don't go choose to have children when you fear the future, are pessimistic, and don't know if your spouse is going to come home, if at all, as a different gender tomorrow.
Obviously I'm being a bit hyperbolic, but you get the general idea...

That's the funniest thing I've heard all night, probably because I do believe you're serious.
Have more babies or pay up or go to jail.
That'll sure put them in the mood!
ROFLMAO!!!!

Japan and South Korea have much smaller government (By comparison) than Western Europe does but their birthrates are even lower than Western Europe.
There is no other solution that would be as effective as requiring European woman to have X amount of babie over Y amount of time.

"Have more babies or pay up or go to jail."
Why is that so ridiculous?
The Europeans already fork over most of their money to the Government in taxes so why can't the Goverment make women have a minimum amount of babies over a certain amount of time?
