I think she was making reference to the fact that plenty of
"financiailly irresponsible" people have drivers licenses.
Heck, some financially irresponsible people not only drive cars...but the SENATE!

What?? Since when does anyone have to be financially responsible to drive?
I Wish Someone had convinced the dirver and passenger who drove across my yard, thru my fence and parked in my horse pasture of that fact. They also left the scene. Then the insurance company keeps asking me why I don't have the driver's Driver's license info and her phone number.....

Interested to see what our buddy does when this lands on his desk.

He has stated publicly that he approves it.
"It's one of those things that we'll all have to get together and see that this is a good idea and this is the way we move forward," Schwarzenegger said at a Sacramento Press Club lunch. "I'm talking with my Republican friends all the time about it and also with my Democratic friends. We will do it." Press Enterprise, January 29,2004

He has stated publicly that he approves it.I'm getting a very bad, bad feeling about this good old boy from Hollywood.
I am mindful that another Hollywood Republican dabbled in this arena upon the advice of the "country club moderates" and later admitted that it was the one regret of his otherwise successful presidency.

If the law passes and RINOld signs it there will be a referendum against it on the ballot for November 2, 2004. If a law is passed allowing illegal aliens to acquire CA driver's licenses other states may not recognize CA licenses which means any person pulled over for a moving violation in an other state could be incarcerated. Plus CA could lose any funding for highways and bridges from the Federal government. For RINOld's sake, if he signs this bill, I wouldn't get to comfy in Sacramento because at the rate he is going he won't be there in 2007.

Check out post #3.
It looks like RINOnegger and the MecHA people are going to try and pass it as an emergency bill ie the law takes effect immediately and there is no time for a Referendum to cancel it.
But SchwarzenKennedy needs a 2/3rds majority in the state legislature for it to take effect immediately.
Do you think he can get the 2/3rds majority?

Oh we can still offer a referendum which would outlaw driver's licenses to illegals even after it is passed into law by the morons in Sacramento. Any law can be reversed. It's done every day. Speed limits, drinking ages, etc, etc, etc. Ala prohibition. I doubt they can get a 2/3's majority. If anyone has the names, emails & telephone numbers for the assembly members and legislators it would be an excellent idea to post them so we can FReep them! Semper Fi, Kelly

And trust me this bill will not see the light of day. The day RINOld signs this bill into law there would be a lawsuit filed in Sacramento putting a stay on it.

Do you think he can get the 2/3rds majority? Easy. All he needs are 2 Senate and 6 Assembly GOP squishes.
If they think this will buy them political favors with RINOld, they will buckle.
Look at the bond issues. The Reep's all made a big production of voting no on the floor, and then turned around and signed a pledge to support them.
It is a matter of money. They are chasing the blessing of the Republican Establishment, ignoring the simple fact that a lot of Conservatives held their nose and voted for Arnold in the special election. Those same voters are watching this guy REALLY close, and are not going to fall in line with every choice he makes.
It is sad, in an effort to chase campaign dollars, a lot of these guys are willing to stomp all over the same people they were elected to serve.

Enough of this. Download a petition and collect signatures for the
Save Our State Initiative. It will deny public benefits to any applicants who aren't in the United States legally, requiring public employees who distribute those benefits to verify the immigration status of everyone, regardless of race or national origin, before benefits can be given. It will also prevent illegal aliens from getting driver's licenses that could otherwise indicate legal residency and qualify them for public benefits. And finally, it will prevent public agencies from using unverified foreign ID cards (such as the Matricular Consular) for identity purposes in California.
598,000 signatures are needed. The deadline for turning in petitions is April 15, 2004 to put the initiative on the November ballot.

How many?Don't know. I made an email inquiry which went unanswered. Ron Prince, the driving force behind the initiative, has been making media appearances. Maybe he'll say something about that.

Yes on SB 1160 = No on your re-election I like it!
The only problem is that your local representatives probably know that your alternatives may be even worse. (unless your current reps are Democrats)
