It has not stopped amazing me how morally superior these "real" conservatives are.

And condescending.

Sounds like 4-5 million of those condescending conservatives will be staying home. Keep making them mad,
so a few more stay home. G.W. will have a tough time without them.
The Dems are fighting to win. Bush is trying like hell not to lose.
Big difference.

President Bush has not even begun to fight, yet his poll numbers at this point in his term haven't been seen since Dwight David Eisenhower's in 1956.

I have no power to make anyone stay home or not. They are responsible for their own votes. If all it takes to sway them to stay home is a heated exchange with a stranger on the internet, then they aren't so firm in their convictions as they claim. Besides, making people mad is a two-way street. Why should I (or anyone) pull my punches with them when they are all over these threads trying to convince as many people as possible not to vote for GWB?! And most are doing it with an ugly stridency that makes my stomach churn.

What are your thoughts about potential judicial nominations?

What I've seen lately on FR are people who will skewer GW Bush on federal spending, and then will sniff at issues like the character of his judicial appointments, or his defense of American values in the world. These people are not conservatives. They are cranks who have adopted a lazy form of "conservatism", namely, "keep your hand out of my pocket!" All they care about is "their money," and their perception of what the government does with it. Have you folks ever talked about the importance of judicial nominations, or the culture wars, or the defense of American ideals in a dangerous and hostile world? No. That is because they are not really conservatives. Frankly, I am very suspect of anyone who bitches about government spending, but then shows no alarm at the possibility of electing a John Kerry and giving him the ability to appoint up to perhaps four Supreme Court justices between 2005 and 2008. Anyone who shows no concern over this possibility isn't a "pure" conservative at all.

So sit out the election. I'm not impressed with your threats, and you're clearly not part of the solution.

I'm calling your bluff. Stay home. Sit in your hands. Go off to your corner and sulk. Please! I'm tired of you, and your cohort's empty threats. You get your jollies every four years threatening to boycott the Republican Party. DO IT! Then we can all see how insignificant you and your ilk are in the American political landscape.

Frankly, I don't think George W. Bush and the Republicans are going to need your votes. If I were W, I wouldn't WANT your votes. I wouldn't want you to think that you gave him the winning margin, and that now he owes it to you to consider your self-centered, narrow political axes that you incessantly grind.

You're never going to vote for Bush, and I'm tired of the pleasure you guys get watching the rest of us try to reason with you. You've heard our reasons for voting for Bush, the justifications from CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES for re-electing him. None of this phases any of you. You people aren't conservatives; you're self-centered cranks who have an over-bloated sense of your own importance. You're clueless, feckless, useless and hopeless. I'm tried of your self-deluded sense of importance that the election outcomes rests on their sorry votes.

Sit it out. Please! And if we lose, well, we can spend the next four years rebuilding the base, but at least we'll be free of you nitwits!
