Somewhere on one of these threads is a quote from the news article that accompanied the picture. < digging, digging, digging > In the article was the statement that Kerry spoke, Fonda followed him and praised his commitment to the cause. I can't remember if it was at that rally or a different one, but Fonda praised Kerry as the head of VVAW, and organization she helped finance. I only have 30 - 40 threads saved. Shouldn't take me long to find that quote. You gonna be here a few hours?

Very interesting! Sure, I'll be around...

Found this, but its not the one I'm looking for. The one I remember had a source and date line.

According to one document I found on the web, any photos that included John Kerry and Jane Fonda TOGETHER would have to have been taken at a VVAW conference in February, 1971:

This former naval officer abandoned his oath of office, joined up with the hard-communist left and now claims to have founded Vietnam Veterans Against the War, or (VVAW). He did attend their conference in February 1971 with Jane Fonda -- Hanoi Jane, their most successful promoter and fund-raiser.

Also, the Boston Globe has some interesting facts http://www.boston.com/globe/nation/packages/kerry/061803 in an article titled First Campaign Ends in Defeat.

STILL not the one I'm looking for, but, thanks to FReeper arasina, here's another link to this:
...I am not here as John Kerry. I am here as one member of the group of 1,000 which is a small representation of a very much larger group of veterans in this country, and were it possible for all of them to sit at this table they would be here and have the same kind of testimony....

WINTER SOLDIER INVESTIGATION

I would like to talk, representing all those veterans, and say that several months ago in Detroit, we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged and many very highly decorated veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia, not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command....

They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

AT LAST!

Krogd found this on a student website (see post #512 for the link). This is the Fonda quote I remembered:

Condemning the tactics and morality of the war, Kerry was "brilliant," Fonda says today. He looked like Abe Lincoln and sounded like John F. Kennedy. "He was our ragtag commander at Valley Forge," says veterans organizer Joe Bangert.
I believe the picture was taken at the Valley Forge event.
