A federal appeals court intervened dramatically Monday afternoon to block the execution of Kevin Cooper, less than eight hours before he was to die by lethal injection for the murders of two adults and two children in 1983. I thought only a state's Governor could do this!

Damn! Hey you left wing @$$holes! How about a little customer service down here Eh?
We've only waited twenty freakin' years for a little justice here!
Let's get the show on the road and send the kiddie killer straight to hell where the no-good mthr f&@$er belongs!!!

If the topic ever comes up for a vote again, I am unconditionally voting against the death penalty. Because some enterprising lawyer some day is going to go into the Ninth District and point out that telling someone for twenty years that you're going to kill him is cruel and unusual punishment, and I don't think he's going to have a hard time getting agreement.
This is absolutely inane; twenty freaking years they had to deal with any and all issues, yet at the eleventh hour this crud happens yet again.
Kill the guy or not; stop punishing the rest of us!

You ought to know by now that the executive branches, both state and federal no longer exist; The legislative no longer either. The judges are making their own laws and overruling the voice of the people by labeling laws passed by the legislative branches as unconstitutional. That is what happens when activists are elected or appointed to these positions. Something major needs to be accomplished to put these activist judges back in their places. They are employed by the people of this country and are supposed to uphold the laws passed by the people's reps. When they remain in their branch and out of the legislative is when things will be back on track.

Something major needs to be accomplished to put these activist judges back in their places.Tar and feathers seems to have been the traditional, time tested method. Should be reinstated.

Please don't - because in my next incarnation- I will follow my father and grandmothers professions without objection and become an attorney and I will specialise in defending accused killers - man what a gravy train... one case and you are set for life - better than politics... wow did I miss the boat... should have listened to dad and grandma

Fed court can halt any execution, at any time. Another reason not to elect liberal social engineering RATS, who in turn appoint liberal social engineering judges to life time federal court benches and to the SCOTUS.

Another reason to vote out the liberal leaders of the Senate who stop the appointment of conservative judges.

The Nine Circus are full of anti-death penalty Rose Bird judges. They put their ideological animus to capital punishment ahead of due process and federal law that restricts fruitless legal appeals by the condemned. And we know anti-penalty activists are opposed to executing any one, even when the evidence of their guilt is overwhelming and indisputable. What's outrageous about the Kevin Cooper case is not that there's doubt about his having hacked an entire family to death but that it takes nearly twenty years to execute a murderer in this country. Justice delayed is Justice denied.
